This year’s race is being run in memory of Ed Thompson, a well-known State College runner who passed away this year.
Runners and fast walkers can speed into the New Year on a certified, mostly flat, wheel-measured course around the streets of Penn State Campus, starting and finishing on College Avenue. Chip timing will be provided by Runners High. Plaques go to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall male and female runners and 1st and
2nd in the masters (40+) division. Framed certificates will be given to the top 3 men and women in these age groups: 5-19 in 3-yr splits and 20-89 in 5-year splits.
First Night State College encourages runners and spectators to wear costumes. A plaque will be awarded to the best and most original costume worn by a runner.
One 2012 First NightState College button and a long-sleeved tee shirt will go to the first 700 registrants.
Registration fee is $19 if postmarked on or before Dec. 24, 2011. Thereafter registration is $20. As a
special incentive for runners ages nineteen and under only: $9 for pre-race registration, $10 thereafter.
(Note: FNSC Button not included in this package)
Runners can register at the office of the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts until noon, on
December 30, and or may register or pick up race packets on Friday, Dec. 30th from 3 to 7 p.m. at the
